On May 1st, 2016 a new program for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) will be replacing the current Continuing Medical Education (CME program).   This totally redesigned program is in response to the constantly evolving nature of our profession, the ongoing reduction in financial support for sonographer education, and members’ concerns with the limitations of the current program. 

6 Things You Need to Know About the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program

  1. In effect May 1, 2016
  2. Triennium dates are shifted to calendar year end (Dec 31)
  3. Membership renewal date remains April 30
  4. Credit requirements increased from 30 to 40 per triennium
  5. Wider variety of accepted activities – including self-directed and non-sonography based relevant-to-practice activities
  6. New online reporting system
