CMA Registered* Programs

* Definitions of Accredited and Registered Status and Eligibility to Write Sonography Canada ExamsAccredited      To become CMA accredited, a program must demonstrate its compliance with the five requirements for accreditation. The five requirements include 30 criteria, 10 of which are critical and considered essential to produce the required program outcome.

Programs may be accredited for 6 years (fully accredited) or 2 years (partial accreditation).  If a new program does not yet have graduates, the best it can obtain is a 2-year accreditation status.

Registered      An unaccredited program which has registered for accreditation and either a visit by the CMA has been tentatively scheduled pending a successful Phase I review or the assessment is underway

For a more detailed description of the current status of CMA Accredited and Registered programs, see

Eligibility to Write Sonography Canada Exams Only graduates of educational programs that are CMA Accredited at the time of their graduation and have had a continuous status of either CMA Registered or CMA Accredited for the duration of the candidate's time in the program will be permitted to follow the examination pathway for Graduates of CMA Accredited Colleges.

As of July 31, 2015, all CMA Registered programs are tentatively scheduled for their CMA Accreditation visit in advance of the graduation date of their first student cohort.  (please refer to the above link for specific dates).  This is not an assurance that the programs will obtain Accreditation prior to the first graduation date, but does afford all registered programs the opportunity of achieving accreditation in time for students to be eligible to write the exams  through the CMA Accredited Program pathway.

DisclaimerThe above list of CMA Accredited and Registered programs is current as of June 22, 2015. Sonography Canada does not endorse or recommend any program.
