Mandatory PLI Coverage in Ontario
As provincial regulation of sonography is enacted, the regulatory college requires its registrants to have Professional Liability Insurance coverage.
Choosing your options
Although PLI insurance is optional in other provinces please consider maintaining/ obtaining coverage. Sonography Canada's PLI program is specifically designed to meet today's emerging sonography professional practice risks. Our policy provides individual limits of coverage that meet or exceed all proposed regulatory requirements.
We ask that you please read the information below before proceeding with your payment.
NOTE: The fees for membership and insurance are unchanged from 2017. No refunds will be issued once payment has been processed. To delete Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) from your membership, please contact the office by phone, as this cannot be done online.
By applying for PLI, you are agreeing that the majority of your employment practice is as a sonographer. The policy includes coverage for Sonographers who also provide services as Medical Radiation Technologists (MRT) on an incidental basis provided that this has been disclosed. Do you provide professional services outside the scope of Sonography (i.e. services as a Medical Radiation Technologist)? If yes, please contact Sonography Canada to provide details and confirm that this is on an incidental basis.
By renewing your PLI you are agreeing that there are no facts, circumstances or situation claims with respect to your employment practices; otherwise please contact Sonography Canada.
If you currently do not have PLI coverage and wish to purchase it you can do so by completing the insurance application available on the Sonography Canada website and submit it by e-mail.
Late Payment Policy
Late payment charges will be applied as of May 1st. Please see Renewal Policy on the Sonography Canada website. PLI coverage expires as of April 30th and does not renew until payment is received.
